Although his fiction deals with many universal themes, Stegner is primarily recognized as a writer of the American West. A very, very good book and I recommend it. It is a very powerful literary effect. He is in his fifties, at odds with his wife and very ill. I finished the book almost three weeks ago, but then I got caught in the day job with overtimes and in the year end parties, I hope I will get back here and give it the consideration and attention it deserves.
