Return to Book Page. The Yankees take her family and her home and finally, even her identity. The Civil War is not a romantic period and this book spends more time dealing with the realities of shortages and renderings of medical care and issues varnishedalbeit th behind lines, but you get bone saw and various triage arguments.
I had very little respect for this man. I was young and was not interested in reading and my grandmother handed me this book. Alaina is many things, but foremost among them: On the down side, this also attracts DuBonne’s attentions. Cole me las ha hecho pasar canutas pero me encanta.

It had lent well to her disguise. You feel the aura of the Civil War around you as you read this book. Unfortunately, Woodiwiss intersperses clues which portends the return of villains at the end, and Cole and Alaina just seem to ignore all the clues and fail to proactively dig deeper and possibly prepare better against villains at the end who have them at a decided disadvantage. Woodiwiss’s final literary work, the upcoming Everlasing, will be published by William Morrow in October First I have to say that I really enjoy the author’s writing style, it’s so much different from the modern books that it’s like in another universe.
But before she can reach him she encounters a group of soldiers who harass her.

You won’t regret reading this one–it’s a keeper! Dressed as a dirty, wnd boy to protect her identity and the price on her head, Cole has no idea who this is and escorts “Al” to her uncle’s home in New Orleans, Angus Craighugh.
I read grim, we see grim every day on the news so having something that takes you through hell and back again with a happy ending is kinda nice, right now. Cole Latimer is a most intriguing hero while Alana is the brave, spirited, stubborn heroine, who is steadfast and long in determination and pride. Alaina was so much of what I identified with at that e.woodiwisa and aspired to from the metamorphosis from tomboy into beautiful young woman, the heroine–she’s pulling the hero out of scrapes multiple times, not sitting back wilting and waiting, some fantastic friends, and some less than stellar family.
I just can’t believe he was so blind and stupid he didn’t figure out that Al was a actually a girl. It’s incredible that a book published back in such as this one still reigns supreme compared to the spewing potboilers shedding from romance shelves these days. The first romance novel I ever read, and still the best.
He pities me and plays his savior’s role most heartily, but he does not want me for a wife.
Was I swept away and able to escape once again? E lui poi, all’inizio sembra “farsi vivere” dagli eventi ma poi esce quell’uomo che noi tutte vorremmo! Cole being rescued from the river – ksthleen times.
Che va oltre le convenzioni, oltre la guerra e oltre il loro Orgoglio e Pregiudizio! My heart broke when she passed away a couple of years ago because I knew there would never again be another new Woodiwiss to snuggle into a chair with and read for hours. Cole Latimer is a dashing Yankee surgeon who has served the Union faithfully, and his tender heart compels him to help a ragged, innocent “lad” in need–never suspecting the rags conceal a bewitching belle suspected of being a rebel spy.
Alaina’s life and home have been torn apart by the war and she is forced into disguising herself as a young boy “Al” to ward off unwanted attention and to work as a spy. The first publisher on her list, Avon, quickly purchased the novel and arranged an initialprint run. Three Huge, Terrible Misunderstandings and still three quarters to get through?
And if that was not enough, she nearly scalded him again, this time with a steaming towel still dripping wet from the kettle. At age 16, she met U.
There’s a connection and chemistry here that actually overshadows the common scientific ministrations of a libertine initiating a virgin or near-virgin to sexual passion, a initiation “plot” often dominating romance novels. He doesn’t really pony up for me until the end, where it seems too little too late. Just a moment while we sign you in to your Goodreads account. When DuBonne’s advances become difficult to fend off, Cole offers Alaina marriage after Roberta passes away.

A Journal Of My Reviews: Ashes in the Wind, by Kathleen E. Woodiwiss
I found the book’s attempts to describe the civil war an anemic affair, and the focus firmly rests on Alaina and her struggle. I originally read Ashes In The Wind back in The tension then mellows out to a loving bg and giving on both their parts as they finally succumb to their passions.
