Metallic isn’t going to help you learn. The Imron does have a long open time but that is also why it cures so hard – durable after that longer process. I have plenty of epoxy left over from my foothold install to get a nice thin coat. I’m going to paint the whole thing with a “High Build 2K” primer first, then I’ll start with the bottom of the hull so that if anything gets jacked, it’s not all that visible.
My general idea right now is to go for light coats and just do multiple light coats until it looks good.

HI Brady the big problem is orange peel, the stuff is real thick and needs to be heated to get it flow, also the dries times are very long, again it’s thick ans slow to dry, so if you do steps it takes a long time between coats and with no bake capability the final dry is very slow. Hi Darrel, Imron is no woese for today then any 2K paint, it was one the dupon to use Iso’s and got a reputaion for being immron for you, as for the durability, it’s evrything you said, durability, adheasion, chemical resistance, it is patented resins and so it’s not the same old urethane, you figure it’s used on the front end of tractor trailers getting 1 million miles and has to stand up to chipping and how ever many re fueling’s, but again it’s pricey and doesn’t lay out as flat as what we are used to and gets hard so it’s hard to buff, but nothing good is easy or cheap.
